Saints Into 2nd Round

St Cuthbert Wanderers progressed into the 2nd round of the South Region Challenge Cup after Mid-Annandale took them to penalties.

After a goal less first half Mid's took the lead through Dodd when a goalmouth scramble was headed in. Saints pushed for an equaliser and got one when Stevie Brown's cross found Adam Johnstone who turned the Mid's defence and fired a left foot shot passed Mid's 'keeper Tait.

With the scoreline even after 90 minutes and after a further 30 minutes extra-time the game was decided by penalties. Mid's player Barry Morton saw his penalty saved smartly by Saints 'keeper Shaun Hutchison and Saints defender Jim Kirk stepped up to win the game for Saints after converting his penalty to win 5-4 on penalties.
